December blessings

Hello everyone:

It has been a long time since I have written or logged in and given an update on how things are going with me. Let me tell you that things are going wonderfully. The band that I am in will be working very hard in January to get all of our songs down, so that we are secure in our parts.

I guess the biggest news of all is about the talent show that I was in. I was in a Community talent show at a big theatre this past Thursday. Fifty people auditioned, eighteen were chosen to compete. From belly dancing, to piano playing, to singing, this talent show literally had it all. About a thousand people were in attendance. I sang 'Oh Holy Night', solo and A capela.

By the end of the night, awards were presented. A sixty-six member dance troupe received the best dance award, for dancing to Hairspray's 'You can't stop the beat'. A group called 80 flying fingers played on eight pianos in synchronized form, and won best group. Best vocal was won by a 12-year-old girl, and best instrumental was given to two sisters who played a lovely piano duet. I won the grand prize, which is a beautiful beautiful plaque and $500. Talk about a blessing.

On top of that, a man asked me if I had an agent, and he wants me to sing for an event coming up next month. It's fascinating. This time of year has been difficult for me in the past, but i have had so much to keep me busy and look forward to, it's just incredible. I am not what you would call a professional singer, but experiences are helping me to learn how to become one.

Thanks for the support, you guys. It's all been awesome.

Merry Christmas, and may God bless you in this new Year.

Hugs,
Meka

Congratulations, Meka! This all sounds good. You'll find you'll become moreprofessional with each experience. If you want to e-mail me about your band experiences and problems of which we last spoke, feel free to do so. Merry Christmas, and Happy '07.

Yay Meka! I'm so excitedly happily glad for you. I know you mentioned before that you tend to get very depressed around this time, so it's awesome that things are going well for you and keeping you busy. And I still want to hear you sing. Merry belated Christmas, and I hope the new year brings you as much joy and excitement as you've expressed in this post.

Way to go, Meka! A word of warning. Hug the happiness to you. don't forget it. Hold it tight so that when the depression does return, you have this to fall back on. In your time of joy, it's hard to think of ever being sad again, but it does happen. So, enjoy each moment, gather it close, and hold on to it. Stick it in your mental treasure box, to pull out and gain light from later on. And, all the serious stuff aside, you rock. Keep having fun, and enjoying yourself. And of course, keep us updated! Inquiring Zoners want to know! Grin.

Thank you guys so much for having such faith in me and being so supportive.

In answer to Orange Dolphin Spirit, the plaque says 'eight annual Sounds of the Season Community Talent show Grand prize winner'.

You guys are awesome, and i am treasuring these joyful moments in my heart.

Hugs,
Meka
